The historic Charles H. Burwell House is open for tours June–September, with tours provided by the City of Minnetonka. Tours are free, no reservations are required unless you plan to bring a group of 10 or more. Details for requesting private tours for larger groups are listed below.

Visit the Burwell House This Summer!
The historic Charles H. Burwell House is open for tours June through September. Built in 1883 by Charles Burwell, manager of the Minnetonka Mill Co., the home was later occupied by Louise Burwell until 1959, when it was sold to the William Smith family. After Mr. Smith’s passing, the City of Minnetonka purchased the house in 1970 and spent the next thirty years restoring it to its 1894 appearance.
Tours are provided by the City of Minnetonka and are offered Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from June through August. In September, tours are available Saturdays and Sundays only through September 27, 2026. The house will be closed for tours on July 4 in observance of the holiday.
Tours are free of charge, no reservations are required, and donations are always appreciated. Group tours for parties of 10 or more are available on non-tour days by request; please contact Kathy Kline at the City of Minnetonka Recreation Services at 952-939-8350.
