The Burwell House

The Charles H. Burwell House is an 1883 Italianate Victorian home built by Charles and Mary Burwell. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Burwell House is owned and operated by the City of Minnetonka. The house is furnished with period pieces, most of which are owned by the Minnetonka Historical Society. Learn more about visiting below.

Guided Tours 

Tours are available June through September and during annual special events. Tours are free and no reservations are required. The Burwell House is located at 13209 E. McGinty Road, Minnetonka, MN, 55305.

  • June 1st – Aug. 31st, 2025: Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 1–4 p.m.

  • Sept. 6th – 28th, 2025: Saturdays and Sundays, 1– 4 p.m.

Thank you for your interest in being a guide at the Burwell House. All positions have been filled for the season. 

 

Minnetonka's historic Charles H. Burwell House is a treasured city resource, and tours led by volunteers play a critical role in bringing this site to life for visitors of all ages. Volunteering at the Burwell House is a great way to get involved in the community and to share this special site with others.

 

Tour guides typically volunteer for three-hour shifts, twice each month, but can volunteer as little or as often as they like. High school students are welcome to apply! Training is provided.
